Watermelon Green Smoothies

Looking for more ways to use watermelon this summer?

Watermelon is a wonderful tasting fruit but is also chock full of health benefits.

This red fruit has more lycopene than tomatoes.  Lycopene is credited for being a strong antioxidant that helps fight heart disease and some cancers.  It’s high potassium content aides with sore muscles.  Just one cup of watermelon contain about 20% of the RDA of vitamin C and 17% vitamin A.  It is also high in dietary fiber.

The rind also has it’s own health benefits.  It contains citrulline that can help reduce blood pressure and relax vessels offering “viagra-like” benefits.  The rind also has arginine that is known to remove toxins from the body.

2 cups seedless watermelon
1 cup whole strawberries
2 cups fresh baby spinach (or other leafy green)
½ vine tomatoes (optional)
1/2 cup water if needed

1/2 cucumber
